Isn’t CrossFit only for “elite” athletes or people who are already in shape?
NO!! ANYONE can CrossFit. We so often here “I’ll come work out when I’m in better shape.” Don’t put it off until then, because that day will most likely never come, and you will be missing out on a supportive environment that will push you to your own limits. All workouts are universally scaleable, meaning your grandmother and an Olympic athlete could successfully and safely do the same workout at the same time by reducing weight, reps or intensity. However, CrossFit does advocate the progression of “mechanics, consistency, intensity,” so to ensure safe success we require everyone to complete our Elements course (3 sessions) before joining the CrossFit program.

What the heck does WOD mean?
The WOD, or Workout of the Day, is the programmed workout that gets thrown out at willing participants each day. Expect the unexpected is the concept behind the workouts and the CrossFit way of life!! WODs are measured by time, reps or weight and results are posted in the gym and/or the blog for reference point.

You got me in here, now what happens?
Each class begins with a warmup designed to prepare the participants for the upcoming workout. This can consist of anything from foam rolling to dynamic stretching to movement preparation, or a combination of all three. Following the warmup, coaches will help participants determine appropriate weights and/or modifications. Workouts will commence on the cue “3,2, 1…go!” Post workout, the coach will guide you through a cool down routine to include stretching and/or foam rolling.

How often should I come?
For most ‘regular’ folks, we recommend 2-3 high intensity CrossFit WODs per week. A vast majority of our members have 2x/week or 3x/week memberships. Depending on the individual, their needs and their fitness level, sometimes more sessions can help. For those people, 4x/week of 5x/week training is an option. Or, they can add other specialty program (Strength, Kettlebell, Endurance) sessions to their 2x/week or 3x/week CrossFit schedule.

I have/had an injury. Can I still do CrossFit?
Many of our members have successfully used CrossFit to rehabilitate from minor injuries. Because people continue to move, work, and play in the real world regardless of injury history, we believe the best route to long-term health is to learn perfect form on functional movements, then to slowly build strength in those movements, rather than to avoid them altogether. At the same time, our instructors are always happy to work with you to scale and substitute exercises, to tailor workouts to your abilities. That said, we cannot offer you specific medical advice, and advise that you consult your physician before starting this (or any other) exercise program.

What results can I expect?
You can expect to get in the best shape of your life with CrossFit Champions. Melt away unwanted pounds, get out of the gym for a not so traditional workout, and cut your personal training fees by ¾. You can also expect to get better core strength and a tighter backside, as well as functional strength and agility, that apply to sports and everyday life.

Who are the class instructors?

How do I start?
Before starting CrossFit, you must complete our Elements program, a basic 3-session course. Read more on our Getting Started page.

Why do Elements lessons cost so much?
They don’t.

I’m really fit and would like to join without taking the Elements.  Can I do that?
No.  You must complete the 3 Elements lessons before being allowed to fully join the CrossFit classes.

But what if I’m really, really fit?
No means no. If you are really, really fit, we can scale up the intensity of the workouts in the Elements sessions for you.

But I already know how to CrossFit.  Can I skip the Elements?
If you have previous CrossFit training experience at another licensed CrossFit affiliate, have the head Coach or owner contact us with information about you and we’ll go from there.

I’m just visiting Houston, but I’ve been CrossFitting for so long that I do kipping pullups in my sleep. Can I please come to a WOD class?
We welcome CrossFitters from all over the world. Please give us some advance warning of your arrival by Contacting Us and we will find a way to work with you.

Do you offer CrossFit personal training?

Do you take credit cards, cash, and personal checks?
Yes, we accept cash, personal checks, MasterCard, Visa and Discover.

How do I pay for my membership?
You can pay for Elements Classes, Bootcamps, 1-On-1 packages and CrossFit Kids classes with cash, check or credit card.  All monthly recurring memberships are paid for with EFT or credit card auto-pay.

How much is a membership?

Do you offer discounted membership to active military, police officers, and firefighters?
Yes we do. Anyone who has proof that they fall into one of the above categories qualifies for a 10% discounts.

Do you offer family discounts?
Yes we do.  For family members from the same household, you each get 15% discount.

Can I sign up for membership online through your website?
You can sign up for Elements HERE. After you complete Elements, we will enroll you in your chosen CrossFit program/schedule at the gym.

Do you have showers?
Yes.  We have one shower at this gym.  You have to provide your own toiletries though.

Can I just come to CrossFit Champions and work out on my own?
No. We are more like a martial arts school than a typical commercial gym. We offer classes and 1-On-1 sessions, where people work out under a Coach’s supervision, as it yields better, safer, and faster results than having people simply use the facility by themselves.

Missed Class/Make-Up Policy

If you miss a class, you can make it up if these conditions are met:

  • You missed for a good reason (sleeping in is not a good reason).
  • You notified your coach ahead of time or that day before class

To make up a class:

  • You must get approval from your coach to make up your class in their or another coach’s program.
  • You are limited to 2 class make ups per 4 weeks.
