Two bits of info Matt gave me that helped immensely with OH Squats. 1) If you have trouble with “active shoulders” pretend you are trying to pull the bar apart at the center, I do not know how it works but the tension focused outwards keeps my shoulders tense and arms straight which has greatly decreased the pain in my recurring shoulder injury (not CrossFit related). 2) Keeping the bar over center, in other words if I were to drop the bar straight down at any point during the movement the impact would vary only a few inches from the top of my head to the crown (bald spot, I’m ok with it), Again, this refocused the effort on the stability of the bar during the motion. Of all the exercises that was tough to adapt to, this one ranks near the top and I figured maybe a few more people have the same struggles. By the way, Casey did level II in the same time as me, to the second, and when you take into account the difference in our body weight (I imagine I am around 2 Casey’s) and she did only 15lbs less on the bar, she beat me up and down the gym today, OUTSTANDING, I am going to have to up my A-game. By the way, I don’t like to pay more than $10 for a T-shirt so why would I blow my lunch to get one (that back of the nose stomach-acid thing alone is worth more than that); I’m with Gerry on this one, the body sends strong signals when ignored.

A major vomit in two of the five “private” sessions. Does that count for a t-shirt? And then I would have had another good vomit in my first WOD if Matt hadn’t yelled at me to try not to vomit – now I just realize he doesn’t want to be on the hook for giving out free shirts

Good w/o! Would have like to use more weight on the o/h squats, but was able to finish properly at this weight…

Woooo hooooo! I am not a level 2 by any stretch but I did do the bottom end L2 work out! 11m xxs. It was great – I do think I could have done more weight on OH squats – but I loved it.
L1 – 7:22 – Dowel & 12# med ball
Had to scale way down on the OH Sasquatch. I have found a problem that needs attention. I’m glad to remember to leave the ego at the door. It is better to scale way down than risk re-injury and starting back from scratch.
