    Really?…Really?

  2. Sara says:

Oh hell…. well, at least I’ll know where I’m at. We did this back in april right? If I recall I did level 1 400m run, 50-100-150, 400m run (thats a loose term after the squats.

  3. Sara says:

apologies for not seeing that you posted the date to compare it to.

  4. Darlene says:

WTF? Body Armor? I wear mine all day!!!!

  5. Buddy says:

I think my knee is starting to hurt again.

  6. Dick D says:

No matter how tired/sore/feeling sorry for myself I am this one always fires me up. The memory of the guy it’s named for and folks like him make it hard to justify self pity. 3..2..1..GO!!!

  7. Dick D says:

    OK. That was a smoker.

Sorry about the vest Matt. I’ll get my own for the future.

I believe that is an improvement.
I have been crossfiting for almost two years now and there is no greater testament than Murph to its superiority to any other fitness protocols out there. Why, because it’s not a routine it’s a test, just like Fran or Angie they each tax you in a different way, just like every other workout for that matter. If these sessions feel like a “workout routine” then you might want to reassess. In a vignette for the physical training for the cast of “300″ one of their best athletes, a Canadian stuntman named Stephan, said something profound, “If your workout doesn’t make you a little nervous, maybe it’s not hard enough”. I promise anyone that reads this, if you approach every workout from the point of “I will excel” rather than “I will endure” you will see your results physically, intellectually and emotionally increase geometrically. If you possess the honesty (with yourself) and the courage and stubbornness to push your body where it screams it will not go, you develop a strength seeded in everyone of us that only a small percentage ever tap into. The 3 mile run is the last of 3 events in the Marine Corps PFT, to achieve a perfect score you need to finish in 18:00. Many Marines with track backgrounds could do this easily, former soccer players and wrestlers would cross the line with 30 seconds to spare and plenty left in the tank. But the kid who crossed at 22:30, white as ash with red splotches, dry heaving and collapsed in the grass like a loosely coiled turd and improved 2 minutes off his previous time, that was the Marine that my First Sergeant would give the day off . It’s good to be a winner, especially when you are stripped raw, cooked well done and your only competition is yourself. Slap the bear, let go of the edge of the pool, whatever it takes to get out of the your comfort zone because nothing every changes until you get nervous. Please back away from the soapbox I’m coming down.

Can I borrow Buddy’s knee ache for today?

  14. Dick D. says:

CFCMatt got his “Murph” on! Smokin time.

  15. CFCPam says:

In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.

This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it “Body Armor”. From here on it will be referred to as “Murph” in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.

The above is a link for the official Navy info on Lt. Murphy’s military life and death. What’s an hour of work compared to what he gave?

  16. Sara says:

Pam! No wishing for knee aches! I recall a few weeks ago you saying how much you looooovvve Murph. “Oh this is one my favorite workouts!” you said. I remember being far too aware of my ass and legs the next day.

  17. Darlene says:

    Level 3
    1:10:56(w/body armor and used bands)
Can’t remember previous level 2 time, all I know is that I just got my ass handed to me.

  18. Sara says:

    Level 1 35:??
It was 3 minutes slower than last time, however I only ran 600m last time and I wasn’t squatting half as far. But there aint no such thing as running after all those squats.

  19. Buddy says:

Level 1 – I think 48:?? I cannot believe I could do it – it was awesome – thanks for being concerned Laura – I made it home without passing out.

  20. TimM says:

    Level 3

Note to self for next time . . . . while refreshing at the time it is NOT a good idea to drink beer after ‘Murphing’.

First shot at the full deal. 20 minutes longer than 3/4 Murph I did 4 months ago, in nicer weather so I’m feeling pretty good about the time.
Hats off to Darlene and Dick for adding weight to this workout!
Kudos to Matt M. and Chris for coming in under an hour.
