I think it was a good workout to start with for a first timer. Looking forward to the next one.

Oh man, why did I wait until the afternoon for this one? Can I put the rower in the AC’ed office? Please??

OMG I hate missing days like this!! I really got excited about this workout. Today I “woke up” (I use that loosely) with a 101 degree fever and body aches, neither of which were from one of the WODs outside in the heat. After 4 naps today and a bunch of grapes and water I’m feeling much better. I fear tomorrows WOD though, since usually if I like a missed days workout I pay for it the next day.

I absolutely hate running! But… I came anyway instead of using the knee as an excuse again :)

A true lesson in s**t happens (and probably for a reason). I am not a man with a huge ego, but lets call it healthy. At the start of any workout I scan the board for those individuals I know are in my peer group and the best time overall. Somewhere in or just beyond there is my goal. When we used to do these workouts in my old unit the Marine with the best time from the previous workout was the pace setter or rabbit for everyone to chase, here I get to pick my rabbit. Sunday night I laughed as my two year olds wandered off with one of my workout shoes each and thought nothing of it. As I changed over to work out my shoes seemed extra loose but, no alarms. I set off on the WOD with the imaginary medal ceremony to follow only to have both of my shoes come untied at nearly the same moment at 400 meters. Careful not to eat pavement (I’m ugly enough) I stopped on the way to the squat rack to tie both shoes. I missed passing the next best time by 5 sec. Seems like an excuse, not at all, I also realize that I gained valuable recovery breaths while tying my shoes. What if I had not had my shoes untied with the excuse to tie them? Would I have had to take a longer break later on, with a less honest reason? While Chris, Matt Pam and I all had a good laugh I realized what a strong connection there is in all things in our lives and any one thing out of balance (or untied or untended) can affect us meeting our goals. Nothing funny or sarcastic, just the kind of thing you can learn when you test yourself everyday.

Went full weight (65#) and only had 20 reps of shoulder press in me. Endless attempts at the 21st rep killed the rest of the workout. Matt hung back with me trying to help me get the weight up there and finally calling the effort so I could finish the workout. I got that last rep after everything else. Not in order but done. It was ugly but got done. I am so glad it’s done.
    This week isn’t starting well.
