I am soooo slapping the bear today; lets dance fat ass!
Level III
32:02? I think Tim was about 6 min faster. No excuses, but once Matt started asking me about why I was looking a little green around the gills during squats and sweating so much more than normal(thats really freaky for me “Mr sweats buckets” I realized that in the last 24 hours I had as many beers as water and had a salad topped with fried crawfish tails for lunch. So here is a little something about slapping the bear, risk vs. gamble, humility and learning from the mistakes of others.
1) If the bear wasn’t dangerous it wouldn’t be fun to slap, but he’s still dangerous, respect the bear.
2) Achievers risk, fools gamble. Risk taking looks carefully at the odds and weighs reward to loss. Gambles fly in the face of logic or facts.
3) As I age (not so gracefully yesterday) I am constantly reminded that I must be smarter not harder, and that more and more people in the room are going to faster, smarter or stronger than me.
4) I hope this is not discouraging but instead encouraging that if you are doing the right things the right way it is paying off. (Meant in terms of CrossFit but, take it as you want it.)
Oh I’m still gonna jack the bear up next time I see the opportunity, but just be smarter about picking my shot.
Love that!!!

Well my comments won’t be quite so poetic or philosophical as Matts but I have to admit that I slapped the bear too & regretted it. Maybe I’m getting cocky but when I saw this WOD I never even considered doing Level2. The first three weren’t too bad but I struggled with the GHDs. I didn’t time my 800m run but it was PATHETICALLY slow. Squats were tough but manageable – then came the bench. After the first volley or two I was DYING to just do 2 at a time. KBs are usually easy for me – I had to stop & rest after the first 10. I managed to finish but I was wasted afterward.
This WOD was MUCH tougher than I anticipated.
MattP – congrats on trying/finishing. If I’d had a snout-ful of beer the night before & then a light lunch then I’d be posting my first Crossfit DNF (Triathlon term – Did Not Finish).
