It has been brought to our attention recently that area gyms are starting to offer CrossFit as one of their services.
For example, Cap Elite states clearly on their website that they offer CrossFit and yet we know for a fact that they are not a licensed CrossFit affiliate, a requirement to even use the name CrossFit in media, print or web.
We don’t know anyone over at Cap Elite, so I hate to talk bad about them, but I have to question their integrity.

Wow. Hopefully they make it right.
It is a shame that some folks dilute CrossFit’s reputation for the sake of an extra couple of clients. I hope that they correct the issue and I hope that their trainer begins to emphasize the importance of technique.
It is a shame … some do need reminded of honor and integrity and the effort required to be allowed to call it CrossFit. I hope they are “encouraged” to take down the reference to crossfit.
There’s also a place near me that has operated for several months with only a small sign on their strip-mall door:
“Cross X Training”
“Crossing the Line in Fitness”
11504 Cypress North Houston
Nice people there….but yet they have a big CrossFit banner in their gym. Faker? Or maybe didn’t know any better?
Get a rope, I would argue that if they knew enough to try and gain more business with the sign or website then they knew they were not affiliated and are stealing a trademark as well as intellectual property. I say get a rope, but short of that let the CrossFit lawyers write a letter. I also say this not just from a business perspective but these are the kind of people that through ignorance could do real damage a persons fitness aspirations or worse yet injure an athlete. How about lawyers with a rope.
