Our internet was out the last 2 days which let us get caught up on a LOT of things around the house including reading the latest copy of Discover magazine. They have the 100 top stories of 2011, most of which were pretty interesting. #55 caught my eye as we’re pretty big coffee drinkers and anything supporting the addiction is exciting. The little article is about the link between coffee consumption and cancer risk. A study in past years that coffee may reduce type 2 Diabetes risks and slow cognitive decline as we age and in May of this year, a study out of Harvard School of Public Health linked coffee consumption to lowered cancer risks and it had nothing to do with the caffeine content as decaf drinkers were just as protected. Pick up the January/February edition of the magazine for an interesting read on at the least 100 different news bits for the year 2011. (No, the article isn’t on the website yet. Paper copy only just yet.)

First time doing ring row pushups. Those change the game a bit! Ended up only being able to string together a couple at a time. Always fun to try a new movement though.

Congratulations on doing the ring pushups as rx. I had visions of me falling flat on my face. My rings were slanted north all the way to Oklahoma.
Unfortunately no Rx for me. I didn’t have my feet on a box but rather on the floor and got in as much of a plank as I could. I did have the rings pretty vertical. Close but no cigar! So L2 pushups, L3 med ball.
Jotted in my book that with low reps when this movement comes up I should probably try them Rx.
